Getting enough sleep would be a little easier for something so important to our health. Getting a good night’s sleep can be challenging, whether due to noisy roommates, a busy neighborhood, or plain old worry. Enter the Yogasleep Dohm Sound Machine, savior of sleep and personal hero of mine. This sound machine has been around since the 1960s, and I can assure you that it merits the cult following it has gained over the years.

The Yogasleep Dohm sound machine has earned its cult following over the years.
I’ve been using the Yogasleep sound machine for almost two years, and it never fails to put me to sleep. A real fan generates pleasant, non-looping ambient sound inside the tiny design. The only way to get a good deal on a car is to drive it.
The whirling of the fan achieves the perfect balance between distracting and unnoticeable. The sound is distracting enough to allow me to zone out and sleep but not so much that it becomes a focus. I used to have a white noise machine that played the sound of a train quietly chugging along the rails. It sounds wonderful, but the bewilderment and panic from being awakened in the middle of the night by an errant train whistle cannot be overstated. As a result, I resorted to the elegantly simple Yogasleep sound machine and never looked back.

If you prefer a more feature-rich sound machine, the Sound+Sleep Sound Machine is an excellent (although more expensive) option. It includes a variety of sounds, such as a crackling fire or soothing rain, as well as three “richness” levels that provide depth to each soundscape’s setting (for example, the train as mentioned above whistle). You can’t go wrong with the Yogasleep Dohm. And at only $35, it won’t keep you awake at night.
