Top 5 Disney Movies That Deserve A Live Action Remake
Disney loves to remake our favorite movies and make them into live action movies. In the past, live action remakes were not acceptable by fans and highly disliked by many. The technology didn’t make live action remakes look good and the cheesiness just stole the magic from our favorite storylines altogether. Thankfully technology has improved, but some fans are suspicious that Disney is remaking their favorite films just to line their pockets. It could be and live action remakes are definitely not for everyone.
While we agree that some Disney movies should be left alone, these five movies would be really interesting as a live action remake. We’ve left out movies we know are in production already like Hercules, Cruella, Lilo and Stitch, and The Little Mermaid. So dear Disney writers, animators, and producers: if you must make more of our favorite movies into live action remakes, please start with these five. The Following shows can be found on the new Disney+ service as well as from time to time on cable TV from providers like DISH Network, DirecTV, and Spectrum.
1. The Great Mouse Detective
Original Release Date: July 2, 1986
With The Great Mouse Detective 2 on the horizon, it may prove to be a good choice for Disney to make into a live action remake in a few years while the series is fresh. Basil can go on to solve so many crimes in his career as a detective, get promoted or Disney can show us the next generation of mouse detectives.
2. The Aristocats
Original Release Date: December 24, 1970
People either hate or love cats, but most cat lovers love street cats and would love to see this film made into a live action remake. It’s also the perfect opportunity to correct the very inappropriate cultural insensitivity that Disney perpetuates with the band of Siamese cats.
3. The Rescuers
Original Release Date: June 22, 1977
Enough time has passed since the first movie that kids these days don’t even know about the rescuers. With Rescuers 3 permanently shelved due to the actress behind Miss Bianca, Eva Gabor had passed away; a live action remake would be a great way to bring this story back and if carefully redone to honor the departed actress.
4. Treasure Planet
Original Release Date: November 27, 2002
This wildly unpopular box office flop deserves another chance. We don’t believe it deserves all the hate it got in the theaters and a live action remake is a great way to do it right. However, we don’t think it’s likely Disney will choose a failed storyline that might not bring any return on what will be a hefty investment.
5. Ralph Breaks the Internet
Original Release Date: November 21, 2018
Disney likes to let a significant amount of time pass before making any of their hits into a live action remake. However, we still like to suggest Ralph Breaks the Internet be remade into a live action remake. This film already impresses Disney fans, tech enthusiasts, and gamers with its wondrous set. Whether the movie is remade now with the internet as we know it, or ten years down the line, it’s sure to please.
