10 Activities to Keep Yourself Entertained at Home

For everyone’s safety, it is necessary to stay at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. While remote working and learning might keep you busy for 8-9 hours every day, you still have a lot of extra time to kill.

Different people are engaging in different activities to make the most of their time at home. For-example I, being a subscriber of Charter Internet packages, have been using the high-speed Internet to subscribe to several new YouTube channels. Whether your end goal is self-improvement or entertainment, here are a few activities that can help you achieve your goal in a fun way.

10 Activities to Keep Yourself Entertained at Home

Stream a TV Show

There are several TV shows that you can start watching during the quarantine. Even if you access to only a few premium channels like HBO and SHOWTIME, you can find some quality shows on them. Some of them include Ray Donovan, Game of Thrones, The Loudest Voice, and Just Another Immigrant extra. These shows will surely keep you hooked for several hours.

Take a Virtual Museum Tour

Don’t worry if you can’t visit the museum physically. You can plan to take a virtual tour instead. According to Travel and Leisure, there are currently 12 museums in total that allow you to do so. These are not just limited to the US. Some of them are in Seoul, Florence, and Berlin extra. So, you don’t need to plan an international trip when you can enjoy a virtual tour at home!

Play Board Games

You can spend a good number of hours playing board and card games with your family. You might already have some classic games like Monopoly and Scrabble at your home. If you are looking for some new games, you can try Settlers of Catan and Pandemic: Legacy extra.

If you don’t have any kind of board game in the house, you still might have a deck of cards. Even if you have two people in the house, you can play a range of card games for example solitaire and rummy extra.

Paint or Sketch

If you are an art lover, you can try painting or sketching to pass your time. If you don’t like these two activities, then you can learn graphic designing online. You can even try your hand at knitting, sewing, or designing your clothes. The Internet is full of amazing and inexpensive craft courses. So, make sure that you make the most of these courses while social distancing.

Play a Video Game

If you love video-games, then it might be the right time to start playing one. Most of the time, people don’t indulge in a video-game because they fear addiction. But with so much time on our hands, we can fearlessly start playing games. You might have a Playstation in your house already.

So, just buy a few games to make the most of this device. You can also try some retro games like Super Mario Bros, Dance Dance Revolution, and Legend of Zelda extra if you don’t consider yourself a hardcore gamer.

Play Tennis or Football

If you have a yard, make sure to make the most of it while in quarantine. Children these days hardly engage in outdoor activities. Use this time to engage them in fun games like tennis, hide and seek, football, baseball, and badminton extra. If you don’t have a yard, you can play games like ‘hide and seek’ and hat toss indoors with your children.

 Update Your CV

You might not have been able to find ample time to revise your CV before the quarantine. But now that you have time, you can think about updating and revising your CV for future opportunities. You can even explore and research other fields and adjust your CV to suit your new career interests. It might also be a good time to start writing that long overdue cover letter.

Try New Recipes

Cooking is a fun and relaxing activity. It is also a basic life skill that everyone should learn at some point in their lives. After all, one can’t afford to eat out all the time as an adult. So, make sure to try out several new recipes with your family during this quarantine. Cooking with your family can also enable your kids to realize their responsibilities and gain confidence.

Start a Fitness Routine

You can start doing yoga or cardio during the quarantine. Since you might not be able to go for a walk during quarantine, it is a good idea to start a fitness routine at home. You can watch fitness channels on TV or subscribe to YouTube channels to learn about different exercises.

Explore Other Streaming Services

If you are done with online streaming services like Netflix, you can look for other options online as long as you have a reliable Internet subscription. For-example I employ Spectrum El Paso’s high-speed and reliable Internet services to stream my favorite content on Disney and Amazon Prime regularly. So, with these services, I can enjoy a range of shows on these other platforms without any fear of outage issues or interruptions.
